St Peter's School Celebrates Exceptional GCSE Results Day 2026
St Peter’s School York celebrates outstanding GCSE results, with 50% of grades at 9-8, 29% at grade 9, and four students achieving all grade 9s.
St Peter’s School is celebrating a record set of GCSE results with 50% of all grades at 9 or 8 (previously A*), 29% at the highest grade of 9 and over two thirds at 9 to 7 (previously A* to A).
In a highly successful year, there were outstanding individual performances with fourteen students achieving all of their grades at 9 or 8 and four securing a clean sweep of 9s.
This builds on an excellent set of A Level results where 20% of all grades were at A*, 51% at A* to A and over 80% at A* to B. At all three measures this showed an increase on results from last year, from the largest ever cohort of Upper Sixth at St Peter’s. One in seven of the year group were interviewed by Oxford and Cambridge with seven heading to Oxbridge this autumn.
Head Master Jeremy Walker said:
'I would like to congratulate everyone on their wonderful results today. We are all very proud of them and they should be thrilled. It is wonderful to see such outstanding results from students who work hard in the classroom and also demonstrate their talents in sport, music, drama, art and so many other aspects of school life.
'This is central to our total approach to education. We offer an unrivalled combination of academic success alongside an extensive co-curricular programme and personalised pastoral care. Alongside our sparky and positive atmosphere this supports Peterites in developing a strong set of values and skills. This ensures that they have a fantastic time at school and leave St Peter’s ready to make the most of all that lies ahead, making a positive impact on their world.
'I would like to express gratitude to all my colleagues who work tirelessly every year to uphold the highest academic and pastoral standards and to our parents for their incredible support..I look forward to seeing what all our students will achieve in the Sixth Form alongside many new students joining from other schools.'
