84.2% Grades 9-7: Hurst Pupils Celebrate Exceptional GCSE Success
Hurst pupils are celebrating an extraordinary set of GCSE results, with an impressive
84.2% of all grades awarded at Level 9-7.
In total, a remarkable 669 Grade 9s were achieved across all subjects, making Grade 9 the single most common grade awarded to Hurst students. Almost two thirds of all grades awarded were at Grade 8 and 9 - equivalent to the old A* grade -underlining the exceptional strength of this year’s cohort. This success was reflected across the core subjects that provide the foundation for future academic and career pathways. In English Language, 85.4% of grades were Level 9-7, while 88.1% of Maths grades were awarded these top grades.
Nine pupils achieved straight 9s and of those, seven joined the College in Year 7. The results reflect not only academic excellence, but also the determination, resilience and ambition shown by pupils throughout their studies, supported by their dedicated teachers.
Dominic Mott, Head of College, said: ‘
I was quietly confident that this year group would break the 80% level 9-7 barrier and improve on the excellent results of previous years, but these scores are even better than I had dared to hope. I couldn’t be prouder of the students, and of the staff who helped support them along the journey. The results demonstrate the tremendous commitment shown by our pupils, as well as the expertise, inspiration and encouragement provided by their teachers. They have every reason to feel immensely proud of what they have achieved.’
As pupils look ahead to the Sixth Form and beyond, these exceptional results provide a strong foundation for future success.
