Hurst Sisters Secure £50k Dragons’ Den Investment for Maiden Cricket

Congratulations to sisters Honor, an ex-pupil of Hurstpierpoint College, and Cat, a current student, whose Maiden Cricket pitch on BBC’s Dragons’ Den saw them accept a £50,000 deal from all five Dragons.

Honor and Cat presented the business they created after struggling to find cricket kit designed for girls. For many women and girls, playing cricket has often meant adapting to kit that was not designed for them. Having experienced this firsthand, Honor and Cat worked with a designer, visited factories, and led the project themselves.

Maiden Cricket’s products are focused on fit, comfort, and performance. The range includes adjustable hems, stretch fabrics, moisture-wicking materials, built-in protection, and lighter pads and gloves.

Head of College, Dominic Mott, said: 'I am so proud of Honor and Cat who have driven this whole project right from the start. Their creativity, entrepreneurial spirit, and sheer bravery are matched by a real sense of mission to ensure that girls and women feel comfortable playing sport. These qualities absolutely underpin the Hurst ethos, and Maiden has already proven to be an inspiration for younger generations of female cricketers.'

During their appearance in the Den, Honor, Cat, and business manager Nicole shared the Maiden Cricket story, the problem they set out to solve, and their ambitions for women’s cricket. Mr Mott added: 'I vividly remember them coming to my office - not quite a Dragon's Den but nevertheless a daunting prospect for most teenagers - to pitch the Maiden products to me as a client. Their passion, purpose, and energy persuaded me to sign a contract with Maiden to equip our girls' cricket teams, and it always puts a smile on my face when I see our female cricketers proudly wearing the Hurst and Maiden logos side-by-side.'

Their £50,000 deal with all five Dragons is a significant next step for Maiden Cricket, and a proud moment for Honor, Cat, and Hurstpierpoint College.
