Lord Wandsworth College and Long Sutton CofE Primary School announce pioneering new partnership

Lord Wandsworth College and Long Sutton Church of England Primary School have announced an innovative new alliance that will bring the two neighbouring schools and their communities even closer together from October 2026.

The association will see the schools share resources, expertise and opportunities in a bold, new initiative between the independent and state sectors.

Each year, Long Sutton Primary School pupils will benefit from a minimum of 100 hours of access to specialist facilities within Lord Wandsworth College's 1200-acre campus. This includes state-of-the-art science laboratories, art and design studios, theatres and world-class sports spaces. They will also enjoy access to specialist sports coaching delivered by LWC’s coaching team, alongside an annual multi-sport festival hosted at the College.

Pupils at both schools will benefit from the alliance. LWC students will play an active role through an extension of the Peer Mentoring Programme, supporting younger pupils at Long Sutton CofE Primary School, whilst developing their own leadership, coaching and mentoring skills.

The partnership is designed to create meaningful opportunities for children and staff across both schools, whilst strengthening relationships within the local community. There will be a focus on enrichment and professional learning, with each school retaining its own governance, leadership, identity and statutory responsibilities.

Adam Williams, Head of Lord Wandsworth College, said: 'Lord Wandsworth College was founded on a belief in widening worlds and this partnership gives us a powerful opportunity to bring that spirit to life even further. This is about more than shared facilities. It is about shared ambition: broadening horizons, building relationships and thinking differently about what schools can achieve when they work together.'

Selena Cameron, Co-Headteacher of Long Sutton Primary School, added: 'This partnership brings together the strengths of both of our schools in a way that will make a real difference to our children and staff. Access to specialist facilities and shared learning opportunities will be hugely valuable and we are delighted to be stepping into this new chapter together. What makes this so exciting is that it is rooted in a genuine spirit of collaboration. Both schools bring something important to the partnership and together we can create experiences and opportunities that neither could offer in quite the same way alone.'

The schools’ settings, staff expertise and shared commitment to enrichment will create opportunities throughout the year, including STEM challenge days, performing arts workshops, outdoor learning and pupil-led environmental projects.

Staff across both schools will also work together through curriculum coaching, shared professional development and joint pastoral initiatives, ensuring the partnership has depth as well as visibility.

Over time, the partnership aims to demonstrate how schools in different sectors can work together in ways that deliver excellence, opportunity and a joy in learning.
