St David's College

This co-ed day and boarding school perched above the north Wales coastline buzzes with warmth and energy. St David’s is dedicated to delivering a broad education for all – its specialist learning-support provision is gold standard, and its all-singing, all-dancing outdoor-learning programme is equally outstanding. About 60 per cent of pupils have dyslexia, but ‘every child of every ability is understood and catered for’, says head Andrew Russell. Every pupil is ‘given the freedom to flourish’, with manifold opportunities to move – and indeed fly &ndash...

    Bursaries
St David's College is committed to making its specialist education accessible to families who may not otherwise be able to afford school fees. Their means-tested bursary scheme is open to both prospective and current families and is designed to provide financial assistance where there is a demonstrated need. Applications are assessed confidentially on an individual basis, considering household income, assets and overall financial circumstances. The level of bursary supports available each year is determined by the funding available and forms part of the College's wider fee remission policy, which also includes scholarships and other fee concessions.

Their bursary budget is determined by a number of factors, including the number of bursary recipients leaving the school and the level of funding available. As part of their overall fee remission policy, the total value of all discounts and concessions, including bursaries, scholarships, sibling, clergy, military and loyalty discounts, is managed within a budget of approximately 10% of annual fee income.

A pupil does not need to be awarded a scholarship to be considered for a bursary. Bursaries are awarded solely on the basis of demonstrated financial need following a means-tested assessment.

The school is currently exploring the introduction of named awards as part of the ongoing development of their scholarship programme.
