Earlier this term, we set our pupil editors their latest commission: to capture – through words, photography or film – what makes the summer term so great.
Over the next few weeks, we'll reveal the results. This week, it's the turn of Emily and Will from
Moor Park School...
Moor Park in the summer, by Emily and Will, Year 8
Moor Park is the best place to be this summer. For example, the grounds are spectacular and there are many fun things to do. Due to the Covid-19 restrictions lifting, fixtures are back on. We are very competitive against other schools with a reputation of being very good at sport. Everybody involved with these matches thoroughly enjoys them. There is plenty of room for fun and games in the sun, although academics always takes the top priority. It is a very important balance, which I am perfectly sure Moor Park has right. Boarding is great in the summer. There is a much broader choice of activities as the sun comes out. The longer days provide the ability to play on the pitches, and do pretty much whatever you want, within reason. Also, there is so much space to do these kind of things that I have already mentioned.
There is also the final play for the Year 8s. This year we are going to produce
Bugsy Malone, and these plays are often big hits, attracting many people from the youngest of the children in the school, to grandparents, and great-grandparents of the children involved with it. The teachers are always supportive of what you want to do at school, and as long as you give your best shot at that, then you can’t be wrong. Art, Design and Technology, and games lessons still continue in the summer. The art room is a place in school, in which we have a specialist teacher that has taught art for many years and has experience in her field. In art we can draw, paint, and design and make pottery, one of the many things that stand out in this school. Some of the pottery produced is extremely good. In design and technology, we can make things from marble runs, to chairs at a near professional standard. It is a very much enjoyed lesson, and we all look forward to it. We have a games lesson every day, and that is where we practice for our sports fixtures. The Performing Arts Centre even has a recording studio which can be great fun!
These are all reasons to show that Moor Park is the best place to be this summer.
